Dental Implants

Dental Implants (Artificial tooth roots)
Dental implants is, essentially, a sophisticated titanium screw which is placed into the jaw bone to replace the root of a lost natural tooth. The implant fuses with the jawline to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement. The end result… replacement teeth that look, feel and function just like natural teeth. The embarrassment , irritation and self-consciousness often experienced by people who have missing teeth, those who wear dentures or who have suffered through older methods of tooth replacement are overcome with the confidence of permanently anchored dental implants.

Dental implants are now recognised as routine treatment for a full range of problems from replacing a single tooth, to full oral rehabilitation, or simply for reliable denture retention.

Implants are used to replace missing teeth. Why replace missing teeth? Here are some of the reasons:
1. Missing teeth may create a lasting social, psychological and emotional turbulence. Missing teeth may affect your self-esteem and confidence and may make you feel awkward, anxious and nervous or self-conscious while going out in public.
2. Missing teeth may affect your speech and appearance. It may cause your facial muscles to sag and give you that old worn outlook.
3. Missing one or more back teeth affects chewing. The biting force on the remaining teeth begins to change to compensate for the lost tooth. Consequently there is extra pressure and discomfort, which may accelerate their decay and demise.

Once dental implants are fully integrated into you jaw, they function just as well as your own natural teeth, and you can eat the foods you want and speak with complete confidence. With dentures, eating hard foods such as an apple can be a problem. Either the dentures come loose or patients cannot withstand the hard biting forces as they cause pain in the gums. Irritation and inflammation of the gums is a common problem amongst denture patients.

Unlike bridges and dentures, which require special cleaning instructions and extra attention, single unit dental implants just need regular brushing, flossing and dental hygiene appointments just like your natural teeth.
When replacing missing teeth with dental bridges, the teeth adjacent to the gap need to be prepared. Healthy tooth structure is removed to accommodate a crown or bridge abutment to fit over the top of the tooth. In the future, if one of the supporting teeth is damaged the entire bridge restoration will also be compromised, whereas with an implant the restoration is independent of any of your other teeth. By replacing lost teeth with an implant, no support is required of the adjacent teeth, and hence your Natural teeth do not need to be prepared or altered in any way.
If done correctly, a dental implant should be indistinguishable from your surrounding natural teeth. This is important in the anterior aesthetic region. Dentures can come loose and look un-natural if they do not blend with your gums. Some dentures have unsightly metal clasps to hold them in place. Dental implants provide a much better cosmetic and functional end result.

Dr Khurana Super Speciality Dental clinic offers Dental Implants in Kurukshetra that is a Titanium “screw” designed to artificially substitute / replace the root portion of an absent natural tooth. It is anchored into a pre-drilled socket in your jaw-bone to support a crown, a bridge or secure a denture firmly in place. Implants are made from titanium, a material that is well tolerated by bone and integrates easily with bone tissue. During the placement of a dental implant, the goal is to achieve a close contact between the outer surface of the implant and the surrounding bone tissue so they can “fuse” together (osseointegration) creating a stable support for the new teeth.

Dr Khurana Super Speciality Dental clinic offers Dental Implants in Kurukshetra and the procedure can be conveniently performed in-office by our experienced dentist specialized in Prosthodontics and implant dentistry.

This treatment concept can be used in either the upper. or lower jaw to support immediate fixed replacement teeth that look, feel and function very similar to natural teeth, sometimes in a little as 1-3 days (Conditions apply). Depending on the case, in some instances, when undertaking implant replacement of all the teeth in the upper jaw, 6 dental implants may be necessary (All-on-6) to ensure good support and durability of the implant teeth.

• High success rates
The technique was originally pioneered by Dr Palo Malo at the MALO clinic in Lisbon and has been shown to be a predictable and highly successful treatment for replacing dentures with fixed teeth. Dr. Pardeep Khurana , a specialist Endodontist /implant dentist, is trained by American Academy of Implant dentistry in year 2009 and Dr Kiranmeet K Khurana is a Prosthodontist and Implant specialist, they have placed hundreds of implants. As such they could see the great potential in the All-on-4 concept and the benefits it offered patients.

The All-on-4 concept is ideally suited to replace a full lower denture. For most patients with full upper and lower denture, it is the lower denture that is most uncomfortable and difficult to eat with. The All-on-4 treatment provides patients a full fixed (non-removable) bridge on as few as 4 implants in the lower jaw. In many cases the complete treatment can be completed in as little as 1 – 3 days. The All-on-4 treatment can also be applied to the upper jaw in many cases, however, it is sometimes necessary to place 6 implants in the upper jaw (All-on-6) in order to ensure good support and long-term durability of the implant teeth. Our specialist will be able to advise you on the most appropriate treatment option after your initial examination and assessment appointment.
The All-on-4 treatment can benefit patients of all ages providing you are in good health and it is now possible for patients to replace a full denture with a non-removable fixed set of teeth within 24 hours . The All-on-4 surgical treatment takes place in our state-of-the-art purpose-built surgical facility in Shahabad and Kurukshetra.

Locator appliances are a perfect way of giving a semi-permanent fixed set of teeth in patients with deficient bone (Quantity & Quality) in the posterior part of their jaws. This prevents additional expenses & surgical procedures like Sinus Lift Surgeries & Bone Augmentation procedures. 4 implants are usually placed in upper jaw. Locator abutments are placed on top of implants & the locator denture caps are placed in the dentures for retention purpose, so as to provide full function & aesthetics
